On October 8th 1957, a three year old girl by the name of Minnie Haun disappeared from her family’s homestead in Claiborne County, Tennessee. The last person to see her was allegedly her four or five year old sister, Elizabeth, with whom her mother left her while she was walnut picking in the woods nearby. As far as her mother could tell, the girl had simply walked off within some ten minutes of being told to stay put, her sister saying that she’d headed off towards home. A search was very quickly organized, led by Claiborne County Sheriff Willie Chapman and composed of law enforcement, US Air Force personnel, and reportedly thousands of volunteers, yet no trace of Minnie could be found.
