Alabama court labels frozen embryos as children, stirs IVF controversy

The case at the center of this ruling involves three couples who sued a fertility center and hospital after a patient accidentally destroyed embryos stored at the facility. While the parents brought forth several claims, including breach of contract and bailment claims, the most significant claim was made under Alabama’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act.
