Parents Defending Education sees UPenn's Title IX resolution as a positive first step

The University of Pennsylvania has agreed to resolve its Title IX violations to avoid federal penalties -- and is now apologizing for letting Lia Thomas compete on the women's swim team.

Nicole Neily, who is the founder and president of Parents Defending Education, said she thinks it marks the first step, adding that there’s still a lot of ground to cover.

"We have seen many other states and universities and school districts that have said they plan to continue their programs,” Neily told The National News Desk’s Angela Brown during a one-on-one interview Friday.

"Obviously, the Trump administration (is in the middle of) a big showdown with Maine (and) California, so this is very much ongoing.”
