Federal revenues surge 18% since June, driven by tariffs and rising income taxes

The Congressional Budget Office reported federal revenues are starting to surge, as they are up about 18% since June, which some say might be a sign of higher wages and salaries.

Former White House Advisor Steve Moore said there were two reasons Americans saw the increase during the last few months, including tariff revenues.

"Tariff revenues are up because we have increased tariffs," he told the National News Desk's Jan Jeffcoat during a one-on-one interview Wednesday. "Whether you like tariffs or not, they do generate revenue for the federal government and reduce the deficit."

Moore said the second reason involves income taxes.

"More Americans are working. They're getting bigger paychecks. The economy is doing very well right now and when the economy does well, tax revenues rise," he said. "It's only two months worth of data, but if this continues, we're going to see a decline in the deficit this year and I think everybody would applaud that."
