Tsunami advisory issued for West Coast after magnitude 8.7 earthquake off Russia

A tsunami advisory has been issued for coastal Washington and the Puget Sound area, as well as the Oregon and California coasts, British Columbia, and Alaska.

The warning follows a confirmed earthquake with a magnitude of 8.7 at 3:25 p.m. PST, 315 miles southwest of Bering Island, Komandorski, and 80 miles southeast of Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka, in Russia.
