Lawsuit challenges in-state tuition for undocumented students amid rising college costs

The federal government is now suing to stop undocumented students from getting in-state tuition.

Dr. Zachary Marschall, who is the editor and chief of Campus Reform, said he thinks it is an issue of fairness.

He said the policies were initially rolled out during the Bush administration.

"No one could have predicted where we would be now with $100,000 tuition rates at private universities and up to $40,000 at public universities,” he said during a one-on-one interview with The National News Desk’s Angela Brown. “Also, we’ve had four years of the Biden administration letting millions of people into the country without any accountability. So, I think this is now about making it fair for law-abiding American citizens, many of whom can’t afford college. We have taxpayers subsidizing illegal immigrants and only 30-something percent of Americans have a college degree.”

The state laws were once bipartisan.
