Fears of tariff price increases persist as inflation remains unchanged

Some companies have also been willing to absorb some of the costs themselves to keep inflation-wary customers, but an increasing share of businesses have been warning they are nearing a breaking point and will need to hike prices on investor calls. Passthrough tariff increases have so far been concentrated in areas that are highly sensitive to the levies, like furniture and appliances, but many economists are predicting those effects to become more widespread in the coming months.

Furniture prices increased 0.9% compared to last month, along with a 1% jump for tires and 0.5% for pet products. Shoe prices also increased 1.4% from June but are only 0.9% more expensive than last year.
