as posted by the channelSenate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Republicans for attempting to rebrand their controversial health care bill, which he described as "devastating to American communities." Schumer said, "Changing the name isn't going to restore somebody's Medicaid. Changing the name isn't going to have those premiums not go up. Changing the name is not going to open the rural hospitals who are closing and laying off people."
Schumer also took aim at former President Donald Trump, stating, "The fact that Donald Trump says a big, beautiful bill is cutting Medicaid. He's showing the American people just what his values are, and they're not the American people's values."
Polling data presented by Schumer indicated significant disapproval of the bill, with a Pew Research poll showing 46% disapproval and a CNN poll indicating 61% opposition. Schumer noted that "almost all Democrats oppose it," and a substantial portion of independents and Republicans also disapprove.
