Chuck Schumer has called for an extension of Obamacare subsidies, a demand that Republicans have labeled a "nonstarter." New York Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, representing the same state as Schumer, expressed her views on the matter, urging communities to reach out to Democrats, particularly Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, to "tell them enough nonsense" and to "get back to work."
Tenney criticized the financial burden placed on New York taxpayers, citing the state's spending on illegal immigrants through Medicaid programs. "We spent $230 million a year just on illegal immigrants that are 65 and over under a special Medicaid program," she said, adding that over $1 billion is spent annually on those under 65 through the essential plan in New York. She emphasized that federal taxpayers subsidize these costs, with local governments contributing 25% of the Medicaid share, a practice unique to New York.
