Chicago Public Schools spent millions in COVID relief funds on luxury travel: report

Outrage erupted in Chicago after an Inspector-General report found that employees of Chicago Public Schools (CPS) spent millions in COVID relief funds on luxury hotel stays for out-of-state conferences, limo rides, spa visits, and overseas trips, all while taxpayers were footing the bill.

At least $18 million was spent on travel – that was not approved -- between 2021 and 2024.

Adam Guillette, who is the president of Accuracy in Media, said in one case, a $175,000 was spent on a recording studio with a swimming pool in Albuquerque.

“The kids can’t learn unless the administrators don’t get to go to a recording studio in New Mexico,” he said during an interview with Jan Jeffcoat on Wednesday. “We have to stop pretending that these school systems exist to educate the public. By all objective measures, they fail at this task. Instead, it’s institutionalized corruption, where they take our tax dollars, enrich the fat cat unions, and funnel that money to far-Left candidates. They fail at the task of educating, but they succeed at corruption and indoctrination.”
