Justice departments to appeal case dismissals against James Comey, Letitia James

A federal judge has dismissed indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie determined Lindsey Halligan's appointment as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia was illegal. Currie said Halligan's appointment violated laws that limit the Justice Department's ability to install top prosecutors without the Senate confirmation process.
