DHS officials asked whether Trump would pardon them after leaving office

Three top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials appeared before the House Homeland Security Committee for an oversight hearing amid President Donald Trump's ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration on Tuesday.

During the hearing, Democratic representative, Shri Thanedar (D-MI), asked top DHS officials if they believe President Donald Trump will pardon them for “the absolute disregard of the law,” before leaving office.

“I'm not going to speak on behalf of President Trump,” CBP commissioner Rodney Scott responded. “But I'll tell you, I signed up for this job to protect America and I'm very proud of the service that I provide and I don't need a pardon from anybody.”
