Government shutdown affects TSA staffing, leading to long lines, travel delays & disruptions

Travelers across the United States are facing unusually long airport lines, with some reporting hours-long waits, missed flights, and widespread disruptions. The delays come as a partial federal government shutdown continues to impact key agencies responsible for airport security.

At the center of the issue is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). During the shutdown, TSA officers, who are classified as essential workers, have been required to continue working without pay.
