as posted by the channelAfter 10 days and a history-making mission to the Moon, the four astronauts aboard Artemis II returned to Earth Friday night, ending their journey with a splashdown off the coast of San Diego.
Artemis II lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 1, renewing global interest in space exploration and marking a major step toward establishing a sustainable human presence on the Moon.
Unlike Apollo 11 in 1969, the mission did not land on or orbit the Moon. Instead, it broke Apollo 13’s distance record, making the crew the farthest humans have ever traveled from Earth. They reached 252,756 miles, surpassing the 1970 record of 248,655 miles.
