WATCH: Catholic children teach Pope Leo XIV viral '6-7' hand sign

A group of about 1,000 Catholic children appeared to teach Pope Leo XIV the popular "6-7" hand sign at the Vatican during the weekend.

Video circulating on social media showed the pontiff smiling with visitors as they gathered near St. Peter's Square while he mimicked the hand gesture.

The pope drew laughs and surprise from the children, who were from the Archdiocese of Genoa, after they made the pilgrimage to Rome in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The "6-7" gesture has become associated in recent years with online memes and youth internet culture, particularly on TikTok and other social media platforms. It is tied to a viral drill rap trend and was popularized in internet culture in 2025.
