States take on toxic heavy metals in infant formula and baby food as FDA stalls

More than five years after our first investigations into toxic heavy metals in baby food and infant formula, a growing number of states are taking matters into their own hands.

Maryland, California, Vermont and New York are all pursuing legislation aimed at reducing babies' exposure to toxic metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury—areas where the Food and Drug Administration has yet to establish enforceable national limits for infant formula.
