Andy Burnham and Angela Rayner are eyeing the Labour leadership. Could they depose Keir Starmer?

In a recent speech Andy Burnham laid out "an alternative manifesto", reports George Eaton.

"He basically accused Starmer - not by name, but by implication - of aping Reform's rhetoric on immigration," says Eaton - who details a long list of policy proposals on Burnham's agenda. "It does look like an alternative policy platform".

Meanwhile Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner's office have been making "noises off", and, as Eaton notes: "After Ed Miliband she's the most popular cabinet minister among Labour members".

Keir Starmer has a strong position - for now. But could Burnham, Rayner, or another left-wing leader secure the Labour leadership in the future?

George Eaton, Rachel Cunliffe and Anoosh Chakelian discuss on the New Statesman podcast.
