as posted by the channelThe Palestinian poet and writer Mosab Abu Toha, who received a 2025 Pulitzer Prize his commentary in The New Yorker, recently wrote an essay about the food-aid crisis in Gaza and its effects on his family and friends in the region. Currently, food is being distributed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is staffed by private security contractors and backed by Israel and the United States; on Friday, the State Department approved $30 million in funding for the organization. (Because the G.H.F. bypasses other aid organizations and coördinates with the Israeli military, much of the international community, including the United Nations, has condemned and boycotted it.) Palestinians have been killed near G.H.F. aid-distribution sites, and Toha’s family says they are avoiding getting food from them.
