#025 | Next Year Is Gonna Be LIT | The Political Spotlight

Special Guest: Delaware County, Indiana Councilor Ryan Webb (R)

Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey welcomes Special Guest: Ryan Webb (R - Delaware County Councilor) BACK to the show to discuss how the FIRST WEEK of the "County's 2024 Budget Process" went! (JUST A LITTLE TEASER... it did NOT go well).

The Council started the week off needing to cut approximately 7 million dollars from the 2024 budget... which is NOT a good place to be... but from early on it was apparent that the majority of the Council was not in a rush to make cuts... and something just seemed a bit off...

Councilor Webb was ready to get down to business... but the 6 other Councilors all seemed less willing to do what was needed! Councilor Webb had to stand his ground, and there were several tense moments! From nearly all the Elected County Officials & Department Heads claiming they just cant cut anymore from their budgets, to employees wanting CRAZY raises... to the Delaware County Circuit Court Judges getting together and creating a "Judicial Order" ORDERING the Council to give a SUBSTANTIAL raise to their Court Administrator!

By the end of their 3rd meeting day (on Friday 09.08.23) it was almost as if everyone, BUT Councilor Webb, was so laid back and not worried about "CUTTING" monies... because, there was another plan... a plan to raise the LIT ! ! !

Many know what that means, but some maybe asking... WHAT IS "LIT?" It is: "Local Income Tax!"

That's right... the Delaware County, Indiana, Government... made up of nearly ALL Republican Elected Officials, including the 7 person County Council, of which all 7 happen to be from the same, REPUBLICAN, party... "the Conservative side" of the political dial... and only one of them... Councilor Ryan Webb... seems to be, at least at this point, against RASING ANY KIND OF TAX(ES)!

And after the 3rd meeting ended, many viewers were left, wondering if everyone, BUT Councilor Webb, had somehow, already been aware of the plan ahead of time... which isn't supposed to be... BUT, alas... it's Delaware County, Indiana!

And after the show the citizens of Delaware County got, over the course of the 3 days/meetings... it's safe to assume: "Next Year Is Gonna Be LIT!?"
