as posted by the channelMuncie, Indiana's first City Council meeting for the 2024 year was held on Monday, January 8th, 2024. This was the start of a new 4 year term (the 49th) for the Council. There were 4 returning Councilors from the last term (2 Republicans & 2 Democrats)... that means the other 5 Councilors are coming in new. Those 5 new Councilors are made up of 1 Republican (meaning there are 3 Republicans on this Council) and the other 4 are Democrats (meaning there are a total of 6 Democrats, which give them the majority).
During a discussion of a rather "hot topic" (Resolution #17-23: a Resolution looking to build a new Firehouse to replace one of Muncie's aging Firehouses on the City's NorthEast side... using a very controversial method) returning At Large Councilor Ro Selvey (R) asked for the floor to speak... she then gave a VERY outrageous and over the top monologue! During the short, but strange speech Councilor Selvey completely destroyed any thought that she could be considered a "Fiscal Conservative" even thought she has long portrayed herself as a "STRONG, CONSERVATIVE, REPUBLICAN!" Most of what she said during this quick rant did away with any of those beliefs!
