as posted by the channelThis video contains commentary covering the Henry County, Indiana Commissioners' Meeting from Wednesday, February 28th, 2024. At that meeting the County's insurance man, Josh Estelle, gave the Commissioners the final update on the SERIOUS "insurance issues" that Sheriff John M. Sproles has almost single-handedly created!
Due to the Sheriff's inexperience, his egotistical behavior, his willingness to skirt the laws, and what appears to be a MAJOR LACK OF RESPECT for nearly everyone that he comes into contact with... the Sheriff has found himself in several State & Federal Lawsuits that are all having a serious impact on the rest of the County!
Specifically, the County's insurance company decided a couple months back, that they would be DROPPING the County, mid-contract, due to what they called a "SERIOUS RISK MANAGEMENT ISSUE" within the Sheriff's Department! At that point, the County had 45 days to find a different company to take them on, which was a challenge... because of the reason they were being dropped in the first place and because, even during the process of trying to find a new insurance company, Sheriff Sproles was still racking up tort claims, lawsuits and allegations of horrible behavior.
On top of that, during the same time period, the Sheriff continued making things difficult for other Elected Officials and County Department Heads within the County. While at the same time, he continued creating a difficult working atmosphere even for other Law Enforcement Officials within the County.
March 1st, 2024, was the date given to the County for when their insurance company would stop coverage... therefore, the County needed to have a new company lined up by then. And even though the County's insurance guy, along with Henry County Commissioner Bobbi Plummer, worked their hardest to find the best deal with the best company they could... this situation is still going to COST THE COUNTY & THE TAX PAYERS A LOT!
Then, on top of that, Bilbrey covers the firing of a Henry County Corrections Officer. What did the Corrections Officer do? A WHOLE LOT LESS THAN THE SHERIFF HAS!
But the firing isn't all... the Sheriff requested that CRIMINAL CHARGES BE FILED... AND A WARRANT WAS REQUESTED... FOR AN "A MISDEMEANOR"... AND THE HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TRAVELED TO MUNCIE, INDIANA (in Delaware County) TO ARREST THE GUY! ALL FOR AN "A MISDEMEANOR!"
Of course, Bilbrey has a lot to say about all of that!
