YouTube Description
as posted by the channelHost Kristopher H. Bilbrey reviews various actions taken by multiple committees of the 124th Indiana General Assembly.
First up, Bilbrey examines the actions taken by the "Tax and Fiscal Policy" committee of the Indiana State Senate, reference Senate Bill 01 (Property Tax Relief Plan). The committee met at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. And while the committee did vote (10-3) to pass SB 01 on through to the full Senate, they gutted the original bill first, damaging newly elected Governor Mike Bruan's chances at making good on his promise of cutting Property Taxes in his first year. Bilbrey reminds everyone that he's been saying something like this would happen since July 2024.

Bilbrey then moved on to the "Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications" committee of the Indiana State House that met at 1030 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. They were meeting to discuss House Bill 1628 (Property Development Matters), which is the bill designed to take local control and "home rule" away from the local towns, cities, and counties throughout Indiana, placing the power and authority in the Indiana General Assembly's hands when it comes to New Green Energies & Renewable (Industrial Solar & Wind). This has been a significant fight for many throughout Indiana, and this committee meeting was no different! The committee took a lot of testimony from people, both for and against this bill, but they did not end up taking a vote on the bill. The Chairman of this committee, State Representative Edmond Soliday (R - District 4), was extremely rude and out of line during the entire meeting.

Lastly, Bilbrey quickly recapped the actions taken during the "Courts and Criminal Code" committee of the Indiana State House that met at 1030 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The committee met for the second time on House Bill 1186 (Law Enforcement Matters), which we've covered in several recent episodes of this program. HB 1186 is designed to change the jurisdictions of various law enforcement officers. It also includes language in the bill that changes the authority of reserve officers and deputies, and it looks to change how law enforcement officers work "Off-Duty Work" based on the training of the officers/deputies. This is a bill that Bilbrey has been against from the start, and he and many others have been working hard to change or kill the bill. However, since HB 1186 has already been passed on, out of the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety committee, by a vote of 10-3 and since this committee has already dealt with this bill a couple of times, this meeting was basically a quick discussion of the newest amendment to the bill and then a vote was taken. HB 1186 passed on to the full State House floor by a vote of 13-0. The fight continues!
