The suspect accused of shooting and killing the conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a Utah university campus on Wednesday has been named as Tyler Robinson.
Robinson, 22, confessed to a family member, a former law enforcement official who turned him in after a two-day manhunt, the FBI confirmed.
He was taken into custody in St George, Utah, near Zion National Park, at about 11pm local time on Thursday night (6am BST on Friday) by local and state police.
Robinson is from Washington, Utah, not far from the college campus, and is reported to have confessed to his father.
It was not yet known whether there was a political motive for the shooting.
The suspect was believed to have opened fire from a rooftop approximately 130 metres from the stage Kirk was speaking on. He then jumped from the roof and disappeared into a nearby neighbourhood, authorities said.
