After the meeting ended on Monday, May 4, 2026, City Councilor Nora Powell (D) asked her fellow Councilors, Ro Selvey (R) and Brandon Garrett (D/R), about the Muncie Crisis Center that Muncie Mayor Dan Ridenour pushed for leading up to his 2023 re-election campaign.
Now, in April and May of 2026, the Mayor has announced that the Crisis Center (which has never lived up to what he first announced it would be) will be given to the Muncie Mission (an organization designed to help the homeless in Muncie and Delaware County). The Mission plans to turn the facility into a Health Clinic, which may or may not be offered to everyone.
In the video, viewers will see the Council end the meeting, and the crowd begins to move. That is when the HOT MIC MOMENT happens! It will play through twice! (I have provided a transcript below!)
Transcript:
Councilor Powell: "So the health center is only seeing the Mission's patients?"
Councilor Selvey: "Nobody knows!"
Councilor Garrett: "No idea... I have no idea!"
Councilor Selvey: "That money we assigned was for the CRISIS CENTER! C-R-I-S-I-S C-E-N-T-E-R! Not a health clinic!"
Councilor Garrett: "...[inaudible]..."
Councilor Powell: "Frustrating!"
