Pearl reacts to the shocking case of Kouri Richins, a Utah mother who poisoned her husband Eric with fentanyl, then self-published a children's book about coping with grief just a year after his death. Pearl breaks down the timeline from the fentanyl-laced sandwich on Valentine's Day, to the night Eric died, to the moment Kouri was found guilty on all counts after a unanimous jury verdict.
Pearl digs into the financial motive prosecutors laid out in court, Kouri's $4.5 million in debt, the life insurance policies taken out without Eric's knowledge, and the affair she was having while planning to leave him but keep his money. Pearl reacts to the incriminating searches found on Kouri's second phone, including questions about deleted messages and prison conditions, and can't get over the audacity of promoting a grief book while hiding a murder.
The reaction closes out with the case of Ruby Franke, another Utah mother convicted of child abuse after running a popular parenting YouTube channel. Pearl gives her take on both cases, the consequences women get away with, and why she thinks these patterns are only going to become more visible in the years ahead.
