5:39Now PlayingSouth Carolina Proposes Porn Ban
South Carolina's lawmakers have proposed a ban on porn in which they will install a program that is a filter that will filter out and block all pornography. However, the manufacturer or seller can take this program off for a 20$ fee that will go to preventing Human Trafficking and Child Pornography. This bill is most likely not to be passed and to be deemed unconstitutional because of the 1st amendment of the United States Constitution. Also, Republicans often scream of wanting small government and that was "what their party was founded on" but in this case as many others such as drug policy, they are clearly the ones who want never seen before size of government in the world. Also, according to HuffingtonPost: "a Republican-backed resolution in Utah declared pornography a public health hazard and an epidemic that normalizes violence against women and children and makes men less likely to want to get married." This shows that clearly the republicans are following their deep hearted urges to move towards a theocracy in which laws are dictated by christianity and the bible. Too bad, the 1st amendment states that you are not able to pass any legislation that dictates by religion. Also, child pornography and human trafficking is a problem that should be taken seriously and not light heartedly, but this is quite simply NOT the way to go about it. The republicans are using another one of their tricks to harp on people's freedom's that they want for unconstitutional reasons to "help a cause".
