He met up with Tulsi Gabbard around the time of her campaign launch, and took a picture with him back to back, and it was clear Niko was her attack dog. The main opponent to Tulsi Gabbard would be one of the two co-hosts of The Young Turks also known as TYT, Ana Kasparian. After Tulsi Gabbard announced her run for President, in a couple of TYT videos, Ana Kasparian would offer some criticisms of her past actions, which would be the run up for her official full thoughts on her campaign.
Ana Kasparian would drop a video on the TYT youtube channel titled “Ana on Tulsi Gabbard”, which was a segment on her own TYT show called “No Filter”. Interestingly enough, just 3 days later, on March 29th Tulsi Gabbard actually appeared on TYT for a 35 minute interview, but there was something missing. That was Ana Kasparian. Now it did seem to be typical for Cenk Uygur to interview Presidential candidates solo, but Ana would just 3 days later, on April 1st, 2019, in a video titled “Ana Responds To Tulsi Gabbard Accusations” allege that Tulsi Gabbard refused to do an interview on TYT if she was present there. Ana claimed that she was looking forward to asking Tulsi Gabbard about the questions and criticisms that she had of Gabbard in her videos, but was unable to because she was barred from interviewing her. This was a big deal because many people viewed it as Gabbard dodging Kasparian and her criticisms, while supporters of Gabbard stated that it was good for her to do because Ana Kasparian is a smear merchant who doesn’t deserve to be spoken to. David Pakman of the David Pakman Show, a former TYT network affiliate would also release a video two days later, on April 3rd, defending Ana Kasparian from what he labeled “smears from Tulsi Gabbard supporters” and identified what he believed to be a toxic cult of personality that was building with Tulsi Gabbard. Tulsi Gabbard supporters decided to prove him wrong by commenting various insults towards David in his comments section. Then, again on April 12th, just 9 days later, Tulsi Gabbard would return to TYT for another interview, but again, this interview was done with only Cenk Uygur and no Ana Kasparian. It is also worth noting that these interviews that Cenk Uygur conducted with Tulsi Gabbard seemed to be very cordial and friendly. There seemed to be zero beef between Cenk Uygur and Tulsi Gabbard, which meant that it seemed it was just Kasparian and a few other TYT folks who had issues or beef with Gabbard. Another commentator worth mentioning is a man named Jimmy Dore. Now on the same day Tulsi returned to TYT for a second interview, during a livestream he actually was complaining about how Tulsi went onto TYT for a second time without contact him to go on his show [enter video].
Jimmy Dore was also a huge Tulsi Gabbard supporter, and while there didn’t seem to be any situation in which he directly implanted himself in this beef, he was on record as being a huge Tulsi supporter and preferred her over Sanders. He would even go so far in his support of Gabbard as to say “why should i give i fuck about people in India”. [enter video] That should paint a picture as to how loyal and committed he was to Tulsi Gabbard’s campaign. He would also announce his leave from TYT the next day, and while it certainly wasn’t the only reason, it is certain that some of their hosts’ animosity towards Gabbard was one of the straws that broke the Camel’s back
What would follow this is Ana Kasparian airing out her criticisms of Tulsi Gabbard either on social media or on TYT, and then Niko House would respond in a video, but this also would force other progressive YouTubers to also weigh in on the issue of Tulsi Gabbard
Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk would then weigh in on this controversy on June 18th in one of his “Secular Talking Smack” segments, in which he states that there are some legitimate criticisms of Tulsi Gabbard and some illegitimate ones [enter video]
He would then appear on Ana Kasparian’s No Filter show on TYT on July 8th, to explain the acceptable criticisms of Tulsi Gabbard and the ones that he viewed as ridiculous, mainly being the Syria criticisms that the mainstream media often pelted Gabbard with. [enter video]
