YouTube Description
as posted by the channelCNN anchors Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper and others were ridiculed by the internet after showcasing their attempts to rebrand as podcasters on their news show. This happens as podcasts have grown significantly in their reach and influence, with mainstream media's impact in general waning to near zero levels.
The 2024 election, with Joe Rogan, Andrew Schulz, and others, it became clear that podcasts and the online sphere were where the real influence had lied, with mainstream media losing its power as the main driver of public opinion and decision making. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon now go on the Joe Rogan Experience, not CNN to promote their movie.
Importantly, the aesthetic is not why people listen to podcasts, rather it's that the platform allowed for people who other wise could not have been on a mainstream show like ESPN, or CNN, to be able to share their stories that people like. This co-opting will be a major disaster and could even backfire. It may lose some fans who are still fans of the old dynamic.
