YouTube Description
as posted by the channelđď¸ NEW: Maine Gov. Janet Mills will skip an April 11 U.S. Senate primary debate with Graham Platner, as well as an April 16 forum hosted by the Penobscot Nation, citing scheduling conflicts for both.
Her campaign had previously committed to three televised debates and two Maine Democratic Party forums, but she has now declined two forums hosted by tribal groups.
Democratic rival Graham Platner, who backs expanded tribal sovereigntyâan issue where Mills has faced criticismâwill attend the April 16 event.
The first debate took place on March 21. Polling conducted immediately after by Emerson College showed Platner leading 55% to 28%. "Weâll be there, and whenever the schedule allows, we look forward to having a conversation with the governor about issues Mainers care about."
Axios: Janet Mills campaign spokesperson says Republicans would prefer Platner over Mills and suggests she has no intention to quit the race.
âRepublicans are foaming at the mouth to run against Graham Platner ... Plenty of people have tried to count Janet Mills out in her career, and they've been wrong every time.â
