Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was asked about a potential run for President in 2028, and refused to deny the possibility. Instead, she states that if the support is there, she will run for president, senate, or any other office.
With Trump and the Republicans polling at historically low numbers, the 2028 political environment will represent an opportunity for a Democrat to win, and AOC may be the only viable progressive. She currently polls at 9 points, coming in third in some national polls. She polls very strongly amongst young people. Still, the largest hurdle will be performance with African-American voters, which have a lot of voting power in the early part of the Democratic Primary.
Another option is for AOC to run against Chuck Schumer in 2028. Given his unpopularity due to poor job operations during Trump's presidency, this also presents a great opportunity to challenge him.
The only other progressive options would be another Bernie run or Ro Khanna, but Ro doesn't appear to have the juice.
