The argument is straightforward and the mathematics are damning. For the Bering Strait migration theory to account for the Indigenous populations of the Americas, people would have needed to travel more than 10,000 miles across desolate Siberian terrain to reach the strait - and then another 10,000 miles south to reach Central and South America. At any reasonable pace, that journey alone would have consumed thousands of years.

Add to that the minimum time required for a civilisation to develop from a migrating population to one capable of constructing the monumental architecture of the Yucatan - and then account for the further span of time since those monuments were abandoned - and the cumulative timeline far exceeds what either sacred history or 19th century geology allowed for human presence on Earth.

The American Indians, this scholar observed, represent a distinct family type unlike any other race on Earth. That distinctiveness, combined with the impossible arithmetic of the Bering Strait model, suggests their origins require a very different explanation.
