YouTube Description
as posted by the channelNASA has formally considered the moon as a logical place of refuge in the event of a catastrophic impact on Earth. The logic is straightforward - when this planet gets pummeled, and researchers increasingly frame that as a matter of when rather than if, humanity needs somewhere to go.
What is conspicuously absent from that conversation is any acknowledgment of the possibility that this scenario may not be without precedent. If a advanced civilisation existed prior to the Younger Dryas and faced exactly this kind of extinction-level threat, the moon as a place of refuge is precisely the solution they would have arrived at too.
NASA is presenting a contingency plan as though it is an original idea. The more uncomfortable question - one that reframes both the plan and our understanding of human history - is whether we have simply remembered it.
