YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe canoe floating at the bottom puts the scale into perspective immediately. 220 feet of lake. 220 feet of crater wall rising above it. A total depth of 440 feet and a width of 660 feet. This is Devil's Crater - one of the supreme examples of vertical cavitation on Earth - meltwater moving at incomprehensible speed and rotational force drilling straight down into solid bedrock with the precision of a natural drill bit. The outwash channel extending across the landscape tells the broader story of the flood event that produced it. This is what the Ice Age left behind in the Finger Lakes - and this is just one of the sites waiting to be explored on the tour.
