TRNN Editor-in-Chief Maximillian Alvarez spoke with Jernstedt and US Marines veteran Zuleyka Morales Rivera earlier this week about why they and other US military veterans and About Face members have joined the massive fleet of vessels sailing to deliver life-saving aid to Palestinians in Gaza. Including over 50 vessels, delegations from at least 44 countries, and activists, organizers, and people of conscience from around the world, the Global Sumud Flotilla is the largest maritime mission in history to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. Just hours after recording this conversation with Jernstedt and Morales Rivera, the flagship vessel of the flotilla fleet was bombed by a drone off the port of Tunis.
