On Sunday, Sept. 14, Filipino and migrant justice organizations held an emergency rally at the Port of Baltimore. Just days prior, four seafarers working on the Carnival Pride cruise ship—three of them Filipino, one Indonesian—were detained and deported without due process while docked in Baltimore. These workers were reportedly accused of possessing "child pornography" as a means of justifying their immediate deportation, but no charges were filed or evidence presented.

The Sept. 14 rally and press conference was organized by the Tanggol Migrante Movement organizations and allies on the same morning that the Carnival Pride returned to the Port of Baltimore. Representatives from the Malaya Movement - Baltimore, the Kabataan Alliance, and the Baltimore Rapid Response Network spoke at the rally.
