Republican Group Accidentally Admits That Republicans HATE The Poor

A Republican group from Colorado, the Alamosa Republicans, sent a Tweet out recently that claimed that Republicans hate poor people. This wasn’t a typo or the result of a hack, this was what the group wants people to believe. And the policies of the national Republican Party clearly reflect this statement, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.

Do Republicans hate poor people? Well, according to members of the Republican Party, yes, they actually do. In a tweet a few days ago by the Alamosa Republican Party, which is a group of Republicans out of Colorado, they said the following: "Out of self-respect -- be Republican. Democrats love poor people because they think the poor people will vote Democrat. Republicans hate poor people because they think the dignity of man is above being poor."

In this little post, which it wasn't actually a tweet, it was on Facebook. My apologies for that. They admitted that Republicans hate poor people. They said that Republicans hate poor people. Now, according to Alamosa Republican Group, the person who wrote this post has resigned and the Alamosa Republicans were forced to come out and apologize for it, but that doesn't undo the damage here. I mean, this person, whoever wrote this post, admitted a very important truth about the Republican Party; they hate poor people.

It's not just this admission that tells us that Republicans hate poor people. We see it in their policies every single day. There is nothing about the Republican Party that shows any kind of compassion, or care, or concern towards struggling American citizens. The budgets that they've passed are specifically designed to punish people who do not have enough money and reward those who have so much money they don't even know what to do with. They're trying to cut social safety net programs that people have been paying into their entire lives, and then when they finally need to use it, after paying for it for decades, Republicans want to come along and slash it. They've earned those benefits, that's why they're called earned benefits. Things like social security, and medicare, or medicaid, should you need it, we've been paying for that since we started working, unless you were working before those programs were created, which is not too many people left in this country, but that's beside the point.

The thing is, this person with the Alamosa Republican Party admitted a very sad truth about their party; they hate poor people. If you think that there is any portion of the Republican Party that actually cares about Americans who are struggling to pay their bills or struggling to get by, then you are kidding yourselves. Not even the religious right within the Republican Party gives a damn about poor people in the United States. They care more about issues like abortion than they do about protecting the less fortunate among us. That is the sad reality of the Republican Party today. I don't think this staffer should've resigned for posting that. They should be given a medal for finally telling the truth about what the United States Republican Party actually believes.
