Mitch McConnell Now Thinks Corporations Shouldn't Be Involved In Politics

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell isn't happy that corporations are speaking out against voter suppression, and he issued a statement that appears to suggest he no longer wants corporations involved in politics. It is hard to disagree with McConnell on that front, even if he is making a good point for the wrong reasons. Corporations should have absolutely no say in how the government is run, and McConnell can actually do something about it if he were serious. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Mitch McConnell made a very interesting point to Politico. A point that I agree with 100%. And that point is that corporations have no business whatsoever being involved in politics and policy. And yes, Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader is the one who made that point. But of course, he made it for the wrong reasons. Right? See, Mitch McConnell is furious that corporations are speaking out right now against all of the Republican voter suppression. Hell Republicans love voter suppression. It's how they stay in power. And he's not happy that these corporations, that his campaign depends on the corporations that he has been allowing to basically call the shots and politics for decades. Now he's not happy that they're speaking out. And this is what Mitch McConnell said. According to Politico, quote, parts of the private sector, keep dabbling in behaving like a woke parallel government. Corporations will invite serious consequences. Don't know about you. But to me, that sounds a lot like what corporations have been doing, um, in this country for decades now, Mitch, and you've let them, and you've been happy to let them, you've been happy to take their money. You have been happy to be their little do boy in Washington, DC, but now suddenly they say something that you don't like because it exposes your entire parties plan to stay in power. And now you've got a problem with corporations and now you're acting like, Holy hell, we got to get them out of government. On that fact. I agree with you, buddy. See, here's the thing though. You are actually in a position where you can do something about this Mitch, and that's the best part. You can do something about this. You want corporations out of the political realm.

Let's get rid of citizens. United, let's get rid of McCutcheon. Let's put serious limits. If not outright abolish corporate money in our political system, Mitch, let's do it. I will work with you, Mitch. If that is your goal, even though you are doing it for the wrong reason, it would have serious positive outcomes for the United States. And for our government, I will work with you if you want to get corporations out of politics. But the problem is you don't. You want these corporations to back down. You want them to bow down and of course you still want to take their money. I mean, if they were to approach you today with a check and said, Hey, I know you're at us, but here's some money. He would gladly pocket. You put it in your coffers and you would still probably publicly denounce these corporations. But behind closed doors, you would assure them that everything is hunky Dory, because that's what it is. Folks. There's a real fight right now between Republicans and corporations. It's all for show. Every bit of it. And Mitch McConnell is no more serious about getting Paula, uh, corporations out of politics as he is about working with Democrats to get things done in DC.
