Some of the individuals that have been arrested for storming the Capitol in early January have argued, via their lawyers in court, that the former President lied to them and made them believe that the election was stolen. But judges are watching Donald Trump continue those same lies, and these judges understand that as long as Trump is engaging in crazy talk, people are going to act on it. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Donald Trump continues to blow up the suspected Capitol rioters' legal defenses. Here's what's happening. You have a lot, not all, but a lot of these individuals who through their lawyers have gone to court and tried to argue that, listen, my client was radicalized by the president's words. He was lied to by the president of the United States, telling them the election was stolen. And because of those talking points from the former president, then current president, they kind of lost their minds for a little bit and they did this horrible thing. They're totally sorry. They understand they were lied to now. It'll never happen again. But judges aren't so quick to accept that due to the fact that Donald Trump is still out there today, spreading these exact same lies and radicalizing more individuals.

Here's what one judge recently said. The court is not convinced that dissatis, dissatisfaction and concern about the legitimacy of the election results has dissipated for all Americans, former president Donald J. Trump continues to make forceful public comments about the quote, stolen election, chastising individuals who do not reject the supposedly illegitimate results that put the current administration in place. So what he's saying is your guy say that he was radicalized because of the president's talking points. Your admitting that this individual you're representing is easily swayed by the words of Donald Trump. But the words of Donald Trump, those same words are still out there. So why should I be lenient with this individual who you've already admitted is susceptible to those things that Donald Trump is saying?

And furthermore, and this wasn't really mentioned, but I think this is a big point of it. If we do not punish those individuals who took part in the January 6th Capitol riot, and Trump is still out there radicalizing others. If they look at it and see, well, these people didn't really get punished. Let's try it again. That's the fear. That is the fear from these judges and honestly, that is a story we have also discussed in recent weeks because these judges are all saying the same thing. As long as Donald Trump is still out there spreading these lies and radicalizing these, you know, easily manipulable human beings, we're still going to have problems. We're going to have more problems. We're going to have worse problems.

The problem isn't going away because Donald Trump's lie isn't going away. And as Long as that lie remains out there being pushed by the former president himself, his supporters who were appearing before judges, are having a hard time making the argument that they won't do anything bad again, right. Their catalyst is still out there. And as long as it remains, these people, these individuals who took part in the Capitol riot, the judges think that they cannot be trusted to be members of polite society.
