A Florida man who has spent the past several weeks in the hospital fighting a COVID infection admits that he was "stupid" for listening to the lies of anti-vaxxers. This is just the latest in a long line of COVID patients who have admitted that they made major mistakes by not getting vaccinated as cases continue to rise in the United States. A 67 year old Florida man, who has been in the hospital for more than 20 days now with COVID-19, recently told local news affiliates that he was stupid for listening to the idiotic anti-vaxxers. Here's what he said. Every day I get on the phone, please do not play get the vaccination. If I wasn't stupid, I wouldn't be in this predicament. Don't listen to foolishness. Go get vaccinated. This particular instance here is just the most recent in what has become now, I guess a staple of news reporting almost every day of COVID patients saying, why didn't I get the vaccine? I Wish I would have gotten the vaccine. I wish I would have protected myself. I wish I would've done this very simple, basic, tiny, easy thing and then maybe I wouldn't be in the predicament that I'm in today and I have no one to blame but myself for this. I fell for the lies. I fell for the foolishness and this is what has happened to me. And I regret every bit of it. I have the utmost of sympathy for these individuals. I truly do. I spent some time earlier this week, going through a Twitter thread where a prominent anti-vaxxer, somebody we've mentioned before, posted more anti-vax BS on Twitter.

So I decided to read through the comments, because I want to know how these anti-vaxxers think. And by the way, a lot of people did debunk the stupid stuff that that person said because they said that, what would the founding fathers think of mandatory vaccinations? And everybody had to point out, yeah, George Washington did that with smallpox, idiot. Either way, reading through the comments, trying to get a feel for what these people believe and why they believe it. They still believe that it's poison. They still believe that it contains chemicals. They claim that we're being experimented on falsely claiming that it is not FDA approved. They're living in these lies, living in these fantasies and I don't know how to break these people out of it. I wish I did. That's what I wanted to find out. That's what I was hoping to learn by going through and reading the comments of the people who follow these idiotic pied pipers, some cases all the way to the grave. I wanted to know why. But I walked away from reading those replies thinking that this is hopeless.

These people are doomed. And by extension the United States, because Plenty of people would come on that thread and respond to those comments and call out their lies. And the, the anti-vaxxers just continued to deny it or say things like, yeah. Okay, sure. Idiot. Like, that's it. That's all they've got. Or they just repeat the same talking point over and over and over again, sounding like a, you know, brainwashed robot. I don't think there is any rational discourse to be had with these people. I think in some cases like the story of this man here from Florida, sometimes all you can do to change somebody's mind is have them go through the horrific experience and I don't want that to happen. But right now, based on what we're seeing, that honestly appears to be the only way you can change people's minds about the vaccine. It's sad, but true and I wish we didn't have to go through that. And I hope we don't have to go through that. But it is what it is. The only thing that appears to be stopping the lies is people fighting for their lives in hospitals.
