Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema has become the face of centrism here in the United States. But what's really interesting about her story is that this is not who she used to be. She used to be a hard charging progressive green party activist long before she ever actually ran for the United States Senate. Progressive's in the state of Arizona, championed her, went out, knocked on doors in 110 degree heat back in 2019 to get her elected to the Senate. And now, according to a new report from the Daily Beast, these same activists who helped put Sinema in charge now believe that she is simply trolling them, as one of them put it. They believe they're legitimately just being trolled by Sinema at this point because she simply doesn't care. And what they mean is that on issues like the filibuster, green new deal, the reconciliation package, voting rights legislation, she's not budging. She's not doing anything and every time they call her out, she just doubles down on it. So that's what they mean when they say they believe she is trolling them.

You know, what's really funny is in the early days of this year, 2021, when we got the new Democratic Senate sworn in, all the focus, including my own focus was on Joe Manchin. We all believe that it was definitely going to be Manchin. He was going to be the worst one there. We were always going to have to attack him and get him to move and let's be honest, he has been horrible. But Sinema her emergence as the new target is what truly is interesting here. Especially given her background. We expect this from Joe Manchin. We know that Joe Manchin is not a big environmentalist. He loves coal. You know, he, he likes corporations. His daughter was running Mylan pharmaceuticals when they jacked up the price of epi pens, got hauled before Congress to testify about it. Yeah. We know who Joe Manchin is. And the problem is a lot of folks in Arizona, again, those who campaigned for her, went door to door to get her elected, they thought they knew what they were getting too. I have to read this quote. This is from Arizona state Senator Juan Mendez, a Democrat from Arizona.

He said, Kirsten is fierce and she'll do anything to win, if anything means transforming her values, that's what has to take place. So he's admitting and he also goes on to say that, you know, we still have to push her, but maybe we need to focus our attention elsewhere because she's not going to budge. So basically one, Mendez here is giving up the game on Sinema saying, listen, this woman just wants to win. She wants power. She wants it all. And she is going to morph herself into whatever she thinks she needs to be to keep that power. Now I don't know about you, but I think that is a terrifying statement to hear from somebody who knows this person that, oh yeah, yeah. First of all, you can't change who they are. Second of all, they don't even know who they are because they'll continue to just change like a chameleon into something that, you know, benefits them personally. Here's the other thing about Sinema that everybody needs to realize. Her approval rating in the state of Arizona is roughly 50%. now, admittedly, that polls a little old, but there's not necessarily new polling on her because she's not up for reelection.
