Funeral homes across the state of Florida have found themselves overwhelmed with arrangements to make after the most recent spike in COVID deaths in the state. This dark piece of news shows how dire the situation is becoming in the American South, and the Republicans in charge continue to whistle past the graveyard without any concern for the well-being of their residents. A new report shows us just how bad the situation in Florida has become with COVID-19. CNBC is reporting that funeral homes in the state of Florida are becoming overwhelmed with the number of bodies piling up that they now have to plan funerals for. Last week, the last full week of August, the state of Florida averaged 279 COVID deaths per day. That's just COVID deaths. Okay. Like everywhere else on the planet, we have other people that die of other things every single day as well, but 279 additional needless deaths every single day in just one week. And yes, funeral homes are overwhelmed. And I say needless, because at this point in the pandemic, all of these deaths are needless. Now that's not to say we could prevent 100% of them. But I'm willing to bet the number of deaths we could be preventing right now is upwards of, I'd say 80% maybe and that's just probably off the top of my head.

But if we had a leader here in Florida, or really anywhere across the Southern United States, that said, guess what, you have to wear a mask when you go indoors with other people. Guess what, we need you to vaccinated. Guess what, we're not going to push these experimental non FDA approved treatments for people who already have COVID. We want you to take care of yourself and take care of everyone else around you. We care about you and we don't want you to die. I mean, hell, at this point, I think somebody needs to look into how much money the, the funeral industry is putting in Ron DeSantis' pocket, right? I mean, my God, that could be the only explanation as to why our governor here in Florida has decided to take the side of the virus. Funeral homes are overwhelmed. They're making money hand over fist with all the people dying in this state, according to new reports. So I don't know, maybe they're donating to Ron DeSantis' campaign and he's like, hey, this money from death is pretty good.

I don't know and honestly, I don't think that's actually happening, but it would help explain why DeSantis has apparently sided with the virus. Dude, these are your voters that are piling up in these funeral homes. These are your voters, your supporters that are being stuffed into morgue freezers right now. And you don't seem to care. You don't seem to understand the fact that killing off your base isn't exactly the best electoral strategy out there. Your approval rating is diving. The number of people who disapprove of your policies is increasing. And here you are doubling, tripling down quite literally at this point, whistling past the graveyard as more and more of your supporters succumb to this virus. These are needless deaths, deaths of individuals who probably would have done the right thing, had someone they admired, a Republican politician, been honest with them from the start of this pandemic.
