Democrats Threaten To Prosecute Trump Pals Who Defy Subpoenas

As Donald Trump's friends and allies defy subpoenas from the Select Committee investigating the Capitol Riots, Democratic Representative Adam Schiff has announced that the House will prosecute these individuals if they continue to not comply. But why wait? The announcement should have been that they are immediately filing charges against these individuals - they don't need to stand the committee up a second or third time for that to happen. Democratic representative Adam Schiff had a pretty stark warning for the Trump friends and allies who are defying the subpoenas from the January 6th select committee investigating the Capitol riot. And he said, we are prepared to file charges against these individuals and go ahead with the prosecution process if it comes to that. And, Adam, you almost had a good announcement there. Why do you have to put the qualifier in there? Why do you have to say if? No, no, no, no, no. It's already happened. They've already defied the subpoenas. They had plenty of warning. They knew potential consequences of not complying with the subpoenas. Don't threaten to prosecute them, actually prosecute them. And this is what drives me so insane about these Democrats, right? Oh, you can talk a big game. You go out there, you issue your threats and you say, oh, I swear.

If you don't do this, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, oh, we're probably, maybe not actually going to do anything about it at all. That's what's going to happen. I'd love to be wrong about this. History tells me I'm not. I would love for the Democrats to come out and say, listen, okay, deadline was last week. You missed it. You're being prosecuted. Anybody else want to defy a subpoena? We'll prosecute you the next day. We'll file the charges and have it underway before you even get to go to bed that night. That is what the Democrats need to do. You know why? Because if the situation were reversed Republicans would have done the same thing. They wouldn't have hesitated. Of course doesn't typically happen as, you know, when Republicans are in charge and they subpoena Democrats or they subpoena anybody, everybody shows up.

We do our thing because we know we got nothing to hide. That's not so with these Trump individuals. They wouldn't be running if they weren't hiding something. And Trump has said, obviously, he's going to come out and he's going to claim executive privilege. That is what his lawyer sent in a letter to these individuals. And he's going to try to get them covered by executive privilege too. But as I've already pointed out, he's not the executive anymore. He has no executive privilege. The guy sitting in the oval office today, president Joe Biden, he's already said he's not going to block any requests for records. So Democrats, what are you waiting for? You want to give them a second chance, maybe give them a third chance to see if they're going to comply with these subpoenas?

They've made their choice. If I defy a subpoena, I don't get a second chance. Sure don't get a third chance. And neither does anybody else watching this video right now. We immediately get charges filed against us no matter what. It should be no different for these Trump allies who have defied these subpoenas. They had their chance. They made their choice and now they have to live with the consequences. But you Democratic party have to be strong enough to put those consequences in place. Otherwise be prepared for a whole slew of Trump people saying I'm not going to comply with the subpoena. What are you going to do? Threaten me. Bring it on. Show them you mean business. File the charges today.
