3:56Now PlayingDonald Trump issued a terrifying statement this week that left many observers believing that it was an attack on the United States, itself. The statement simply said that the REAL insurrection took place on Election Day, and what transpired on January 6th was just the "protest" of that insurrection. This man is dangerous, and he only appears to be becoming more of a threat with each passing week. If he isn't held accountable, we can expect much worse from his and his supporters in the future, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Donald Trump released a statement Thursday afternoon that a lot of his critics are saying is a direct attack on the United States itself. And it truly is one of the more disturbing things that Donald Trump has said. Although, I don't even know that I'd go as far as to say it was the most disturbing thing that he sent out in a statement this week, but it was disturbing nonetheless. Here's his statement. The insurrection took place on November 3rd election day, January 6th was the protest. That's it. That's the official statement from the office of the former president of the United States. The real insurrection was January, excuse me, was November 3rd. January 6th that was just the protest. Small statement, big meaning, right? He is downplaying what happened with those Capitol rioters on January 6th.
And of course we got new reports this week about Republican senators having to huddle in a closet because they were terrified for their lives. They're literally in that closet, according to the Washington Post, rethinking their positions on everything, you know, blaming themselves, basically for allowing America to get to this point, terrified for their lives. In another part of the Capitol, you had one Republican member of Congress who grabbed a sword off the wall and standing on top of a toilet, waiting to, you know, chop people if they got too close to him. And here Trump is saying that was just a protest. That was just a protest. I gotta tell you, buddy, you're facing a pretty major lawsuit for allegedly inciting that riot that took place. This statement will be used against you in court. It 100% will be used against you in court. Furthermore, January 6th select committee, subpoena this, right now, subpoena him. Subpoena him to come testify next week, let him defy it and then vote to hold him in contempt just like you did with Steve Bannon.
That's what needs to happen now. Trump cannot continue to get away with this. He cannot continue to issue his idiotic statements from the comfort of his golf resort. Hold him accountable now. Haul his fat into that House chamber now. Because if you don't, this is just the beginning. January 6th will not be a one-off event and more importantly, this guy is going to run for president again in 2024 and if you think he is willingly going to leave office after he's term limited after that, you're nuts. He'll never. If he gets back into that White House, he is never gonna leave. Six months ago I wouldn't have thought that. Today I do. Six months ago I thought, ah, Trump running again, let him do it. He'll crash and burn. I don't think that anymore. Too much has changed and he is actually somehow getting stronger with the Republican base. So hold him accountable now or else we're all going to be in deep trouble in the future.
