4:31Now PlayingDuring an interview with The Los Angeles Times that released on Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris said that the Biden Administration was a bit blindsided by the Omicron variant and that they "didn't see it coming." This is a big gaffe from the Vice President, as new variants have been emerging with relative frequency as the virus continues to both spread and mutate. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this comment from Harris.

Vice president Kamala Harris made a rather ridiculous gaffe this past weekend when an interview that she had with the Los Angeles Times was published on Friday and she admitted to the paper that the Biden administration not only didn't see Delta coming, but also didn't see the Omicron variant coming. Here's what she said. We didn't see Delta coming. I think most scientists did not, upon whose advice and direction we have relied, didn't see Delta coming. We didn't see Omicron coming. And that's the nature of what this, this awful virus has been, which as it turns out has mutations and variants. If you were writing a paper for like an eighth grade science class, this would probably be a good thing to say. If you're serving as the vice president of the United States, not a good thing to say.
Scientists know about variants. They, they know how viruses mutate. That's, that's actually why we have to get flu shots every single year, because the flu virus mutates, it mutates constantly. The more it spreads, the more it mutates. We, we, we know this. So why are you out there saying that, ah, pssh, we didn't see this coming, we didn't know this could happen? And you're saying it as if you just learned this. Again, long before COVID it was pretty much common knowledge that viruses mutate. Most people in this country understood that already. And here you are admitting we didn't see it coming, our scientists, our scientists didn't see this coming that you're working with. If that's the case, if, if what you're saying is true, then you need to work with different scientists because these people are idiots and especially, okay, maybe you didn't see Delta coming.
But after Delta, you should have known that there would be another one coming, right? You saw it mutate once and then you're like, okay, whew. I guess that's good. I guess we're done. It's only gonna mutate once. This is ridiculous. I'm sorry. And I know I'm gonna get some hate from the KHive on this one. This is a stupid statement and it sure as hell doesn't kind of reinforce any trust in this administration that people may have had. We, we need better leadership. We need people that understand what's going on and you need to be taking advice from people who understand what's going on. So either you're listening to bad scientists that you have working for the White House, or you're lying to make it sound like you were just blindsided by this whole dang thing.
Either way, those are two horrible options of what you're doing here and I don't like the outcome of either one. Everybody knows that viruses mutate and that's what's going to continue to happen to COVID-19. As long as it stays out there, as long as infections keep going, which of course the graph right now going right back up there. Some areas, some companies going back into lockdowns, of course the Biden administration did announce over the weekend that no more lockdowns. They're not doing it. All you people who got vaccinated, oh, you're doing great. You're protecting yourselves. And then they warned in the statement that you unvaccinated people, oh, you're gonna clog up our hospitals. You're gonna do all these horrible things. And look, it's not, it's not inaccurate. They are.
But trying to shame these people into getting the vaccine after they've been refusing it for a year is not going to change the what's happening.
