For the first time ever, Donald Trump admitted on Sunday in one of his little idiotic statements that he did in fact, want Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Here is what Trump said in his statement. If the vice president had absolutely no right to change the presidential election results in the Senate, despite fraud and many other irregularities, how come the Democrats and RINO Republicans like wacky Susan Collins are desperately trying to pass legislation that will not allow the vice president to change the results of the election? Actually, what they're saying is that Mike Pence did have the right to change the outcome and they now want to take that right away. Unfortunately, he didn't exercise that power. He could have overturned the election. He says with an exclamation point at the end of it. So unfortunately Trump says he didn't overturn the election, which of course means, he wanted that to happen. As for the vice president's power to overturn the election, uh, that's more of an oversight in the electoral college process than it is a power given to the vice president.

It wasn't explicitly said they cannot do this and so Trump of course, takes that to mean that, oh, that means he has the right to do it. No, it just means that way back in the day, somebody forgot to say, hold up, we've gotta make sure we're protected from despots and dictators. So we need to make it clear. And unfortunately that's how a lot of laws in the United States are. That's how loopholes in the constitution and the tax code get found and that's what they're trying to shore up with this proposed legislation. They wanna make sure the vice president understands you cannot do this. Or, you know, we could just abolish the electoral college and then suddenly all of that problem goes away. But that's a conversation that too few people want to have in this country. So it is what it is. As for Trump's admission, right? Because that's the big thing. The guy says I wanted Mike Pence to overturn the election. He just phrased it a little differently. Well, this is going to hurt Donald Trump. It's going to hurt him pretty significantly because now he is admitting that he wanted any of those coup plans that involved Pence overturning the election, he was in on it. He wanted it to happen. So what does this mean legally speaking for Donald Trump?

Well, if it is determined that this was in fact an attempted coup with regard to the plot to overturn the election, Donald Trump is now right there in the thick of it by his own admission. So it is difficult to divorce it, it would now be even more difficult for him to say no, that was just a plot by, by John Eastman. It was a plot by Giuliani. I wasn't involved in any of it. No, you just threw away your best defense in staying out of trouble on this. So yes, this creates a lot of legal problems for Donald Trump down the road and of course it gives the January 6th committee a lot more leeway in linking Donald Trump personally, to all of these individual plots. So if the DOJ is in fact looking into this, as they claim they are, you already have the January 6th committee that is definitely looking into this, Trump's admission here is going to play out in both of these ongoing investigations.
