4:26Now PlayingRiot Committee Considers Subpoenaing Ivanka Trump For Testimony
YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIvanka Trump was sent an "invitation" to voluntarily appear before the January 6th Select Committee some time ago, and it looks like she is going to decline that request. Now the Committee finds itself trying to figure out if they want to issue a subpoena or just let it go. But her testimony would provide crucial insight into the atmosphere inside the White House that day, which is why they should just issue the subpoena and get on with it - there is no reason to wait. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

The January 6th select committee, not that long ago, sent a request, an invitation if you will, to Ivanka Trump saying, hey, Ivanka, um, you were in the White House on January 6th, obviously you're close to your father. We have reports that you were trying to basically tell him, come out, make a statement. We have text messages that were sent to you. So why don't you come voluntarily and sit down for a talk with us, right? We, we're not gonna force you, but we would like to hear from you and apparently Ivanka Trump has not really given them a yes or no yet. Kind of leaving them hanging, right? You know, you gotta RSVP to the event. Yes or no. So they, how many chairs to put out, Ivanka. You of all people should know this. You love events. You love planning. You love parties. But you're just leaving them wondering whether or not you're gonna show up.
But it's okay because according to new reports, apparently the January 6th committee is starting to think, you know what, it might be time to go ahead and send a subpoena her way to let her know that we are not kidding. Now, this is a strategy that according to those inside, has been discussed. They have not finalized it. They have not even said, this is definitely what we're going to do. And if they do decide to do it, the sources have said to the media, not gonna happen just yet. Right? It's probably something that's gonna happen, you know, a little further down the road. But that's stupid, for one, and I'll get to that in a minute. Two, this would be the first member of the actual Trump family, right? That, that super tight knit inner circle that came to talk to the committee. So that would be huge.
Now here's why it's stupid for them to wait. Uh, there's no reason to. Unless you're only bringing Ivanka in or want to subpoena her to kind of embarrass them, then there's no reason to wait. If you need that testimony, get it now, because you know she's gonna try to fight that subpoena. So you would already have a, a, you know, at least somewhat lengthy legal battle ahead of you and you've put yourself on a Summer deadline to release your final report. We're already more than halfway through February at this point, we, we have a week left of February at this point. So we're coming into March in one week from, you know, tomorrow. And you're saying, ah, maybe we will. Maybe we won't. If we do, it's gonna be awhile. By the time it all got resolved, we'll already be in the midterm elections.
That's why this is stupid. And I hate to see this committee continue to make these very stupid missteps. They have done so much great work and then when it comes down to it, somebody like Ivanka Trump, who again, you've got her in the text messages, you've got the testimony of others that say she was trying to talk her father to, you know, talk him down a bit, get him to come out and make statements telling people to go home. That's not gonna be any kind of criminal activity she's gonna implicate him in. But it is gonna show his negligence, his neglect, and his contempt for members of Congress who were suffering at the time. And of course his support for those who were doing the Capitol riot. Like, Ivanka's in no legal trouble at all and I think that's what people have to understand.
They're not trying to do a gotcha on Ivanka.
