YouTube Description
as posted by the channelRepublicans have been whining about gas prices for months, placing the blame for the pain at the pump squarely at the feet of President Biden. That's why it likely comes as a shock (not really) to the public to learn that on Monday, Republicans blocked a bill in Committee that would have helped lower gas prices for American consumers. The bill would have given the government the power to investigate price gouging within the industry, something that Republicans are apparently perfectly fine with. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Republicans for many months now have been complaining about gas prices here in the United States. They're continuing to go up because now we're getting into the summer months, people are gonna be driving and traveling more. It's actually something that happens at this time of year, every year, but they were already, you know, shooting way up. Even before that, you know, more than $4 a gallon in most areas, some places even higher than that, Republicans have been railing against it saying Joe Biden. You're to blame you did this, do something about it. So Democrats in the house of representatives said, okay, we're we're gonna do something about it. We've got this wonderful legislation that will allow the FTC, the federal trade commission to investigate these oil companies for price gouging, American consumers. And that would of course, bring down prices, not bring 'em back down to where they were, you know, three years ago, but bring 'em down a significant amount.
And on Monday Republicans in committee in the, uh, rules committee blocked this legislation from making it out of committee legislation that absolutely would have helped lower gas prices here in the United States. And those same Republicans who've been and moaning for months about gas prices said, oh no, no, you can't do that. Nope. We're not gonna let you have a win. We're not gonna let you help the American public. And we're not gonna let you go after our friends in the oil industry, because that's really what's at the heart of this. You see folks, Republicans don't actually care about your pain at the pump. They love it. Actually. It is a wonderful campaign message for them. They love taking their little pictures at gas stations, taking pictures of the signs that show the prices. They love putting the little stickers of Joe Biden on there saying I did that, but when it comes down to, okay, well we can fix the problem. All you gotta do is pass this legislation. They say, oh God, no, no, no, no, because they want you to suffer because your suffering is a good campaign message for them to attack Biden. They want it to continue. And again, they wanna protect their good buddies in the oil industry. And here's the thing about this legislation. It doesn't even demand that the FTC go out there and investigate these companies for price gouging. It just basically gives them the, the tools to do that if they want to do it.
But that didn't stop Republicans from calling this the socialist energy price fixing act because everything is socialist because these morons don't know what that word means. We know that price gouging is happening. And do you know how we know? Because the profits of the oil and gas industry are at record highs right now, if they were experiencing any kind of cost increase and then delivering that increase to the price
Of gasoline to consumers, their profits would remain the same. Now they have experienced price increases, obviously, and that has increased our prices. But on top of that, on top of the increase in the cost to them, they've decided to just tack on a little more, which raises the prices well above what inflation or other forces have caused them to rise because their profits have risen at higher rates.
