A Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate has been arrested on misdemeanor charges for participating in the Capitol Riot. This is the 7th Republican candidate in the race that has faced serious trouble, with 5 candidates removed from the ballot for forging petition signatures and another who faced similar accusations dropping out. There is something deeply wrong with these Republicans in Michigan, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Yet another Michigan gubernatorial candidate on the Republican side is facing some serious problems, as Ryan Kelley was arrested by FBI agents this week for participating in the Capitol riot. Now, Mr. Kelley, of course is only facing misdemeanor charges of destruction of federal property. However, those do or could, I should say, carry a prison sentence along with them, which would probably make it a little hard for him to act as governor of the state, if he were to win the primary. And right now he actually stands a pretty good chance of winning that primary after the two front runners in that race were removed from the ballot a week ago for submitting fraudulent petitions to get on the ballot in the first place. So before I get in more to Mr. Kelley, let's think about this. This race on the Republican side in Michigan for, you know, the spot to run for governor, started with 11 candidates.

One of them dropped out before the big scandal was revealed that they were using fraudulent signatures. So that one dropped out. We were down to 10. Then of course, the state looked at the signatures realized, oh no, five of you submitted fraudulent signatures, actually six of you did, but the other guy dropped out when he knew it was about to break. So you five are off the ballot. So that leaves five. Now of those five remaining, one of them has been arrested. Now he's still running of course, that has not impacted his campaign. In fact, with the die hard magats in the state, it may actually improve his poll numbers. But out of 11, you only have four candidates left that are basically unscathed at this point. I mean, based on what we've seen, there's really no telling what could happen with these other four individuals, right? Are we gonna find out some horribly shocking information about these people? Because right now your seven out of 11 have allegedly been involved in illegal conduct.

So I'd say that's pretty significant. Must be something in the water up there in Michigan. And no, that is not a knock on Flint. That's just saying something's happening with these Republicans in Michigan that I think probably needs to be looked into a little deeper. Like how can you have one party in one state that is just so blatantly corrupt that a majority of your own candidates just can't even run for office anymore. So back to Mr. Kelley, as I said, he is accused of misdemeanor destruction of federal property. He claims he did not go into the Capitol building. They do have him on surveillance tapes. He's climbing scaffolding outside, you know, ripping things off. As far as I know, there's no video of him actually inside the Capitol. So that is probably going to work in his favor when this thing goes to trial or when they try to, you know, just come up with a probation, whatever it is they try to give him for this. But here's the thing. And this is what I found exceptionally interesting.

During an interview of March in March of 2021, this is what Mr. Kelley had to say on a conservative show. I think that event was definitely an energizing event, right? It will live on in history, absolutely. For a lot of different things. As far as going through any barricades or doing anything like that I, I never took part in any forceful.
