Majority Of Republicans Side With Mike Pence Over Trump In Election Feud

According to a new poll, a small majority of Republicans say that they side with Mike Pence over Donald Trump about whether the Vice President had the authority to overturn the results of an election (by throwing out electors from certain states.) This is a major blow to Trump, but more importantly it shows how the tide is shifting away from the former President at a dramatic rate. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

The poll numbers just keep getting worse and worse every single day for Donald Trump. The most recent round of polling has found that a majority of Republicans, a small majority, but a majority, nevertheless, actually sides with Mike Pence over Donald Trump as to whether or not the vice president does have the authority to throw out certain electoral college votes. As Donald Trump has repeatedly, including on January 6th, claim is possible. 52% of Republicans poll said, no, Mike Pince did not have that authority, which of course is what Pence said. So they side with him versus only 36% who said, oh no, he does have that authority. Meaning I side with Donald Trump. That's a big split. A majority of Republicans say, no, Mike Pence couldn't do that. Trump is wrong. Uh, as for voters in general, 71%, or excuse me, 72% of the American electorate agrees that no, Mike Pince did not have the authority to overthrow or throw out. I should say those electoral college votes. So what does this mean? Right? That's the big question. What does this mean?

It means the public is turning against Trump. Well, that's an unfair statement. The public's been against Trump for a long time. The Republican party is what's starting to turn against Trump. Again, it's small. As I've repeatedly said, there's small cracks that have been forming, but there's more and more cracks forming. And those cracks continue to get bigger. And as they continue to get bigger, whether it's within conservative media, whether it's in the G O P establishment, the, the, you know, lobbyist class, the donor class, and now the voters are looking at what Trump has done and said, no, no, I don't agree with this. No, this was not good. No Pence can't do that. No, we shouldn't have hung. Mike Pence that day, the cracks are growing. But of course the terrifying downside to that is that we're gonna end up with somebody much worse than Donald Trump. I do personally. I will say, I do believe that Donald Trump's political future is dead, but that just creates more problems. Cuz now there's the leadership vacuum and who's filling the void. Ron DeSantis a much worse, much more capable version of Donald Trump. And that is terrifying. So that's what we're left. If with, you know, you get rid of the one tyrant and then somebody even worse comes up behind them, but you gotta get rid of the tyrant. You can't leave him there cuz he'll continue to get worse.

All we can do is hope. These people

Don't come to power. All we can do is point out how horrible they are as both human beings and politicians. But that's the part that doesn't make me feel optimistic. I'm optimistic that Trump's political future is dead. I'm not optimistic that the country's gonna be, be any better off for it.
