Congress Slams Gun Makers For Profiting Off Death And Calls CEOs To Testify

Democrats in Congress recently slammed the CEOs of major gun manufacturing companies for profiting off of "weapons of war" that are killing American citizens on our soil, and called them to testify before Congress in the coming weeks. This would be the first time that Congress has spoken to the people responsible for America's gun epidemic, and it could open a lot of people's eyes - if they choose to do so. The house oversight committee, uh, specifically chairwoman democratic representative. Carolyn Maloney has sent letters to the CEOs of some of the biggest gun manufacturers here in the United States. First of all, calling them out for profiting off the massive death that we see in this country every single day at the hands of, uh, people with guns, but also inviting them to come and join the committee next Wednesday, J uh, July 20th for a hearing where they can talk about both their massive profits from these weapons of death that they're pedaling. And two, why is it that we're seeing so much death? And of course, how does that affect your businesses? And to be honest, it is way beyond time for Congress to finally have this conversation with these weapons manufacturers. And again, we're not talking about the folks, you know, this isn't Boeing Lockheed, it's not them. This is, uh, Daniel defense makes the AR 15 rifle.

Uh, actually they made the one used in the, uh, UAL day school shooting, uh, Smith and weson of course, uh, St uh, Ruger and company. So we're talking about, you know, handguns and guns that you, as a consumer can go by, not the military, uh, stuff. That's a whole different story happening, but these CEOs need to answer for this. And in fact, we need more than just a hearing. I think we need an investigation because we need to get our hands on documents. We know for a fact that every time there's a mass shooting here in the United States, gun sales go up, and I want to know what these CEOs have said in their internal communications about how good this is for business, right? We've had inklings, we've had reports that they have said things like this in the past I wanted in writing. I want people to be able to see in this country, how these gun manufacturers almost celebrate the nonstop loss of life that we see in this country.

Again, literally on a daily basis, we are currently in the middle of a massive gun violence epidemic, where we have more than one mass shooting on average per day. So far this year, and the people responsible for putting these weapons out there. They need to come in and talk. So I am hoping I'm not hopeful, but I'm hoping that these CEOs will come in, that they will answer the tough questions. And I know the Republicans on the house oversight committee are gonna go very easy on them. Gonna talk about what a great job they're doing to protect our second amendment rights here in the United States, by flooding our streets with guns, they're gonna praise 'em. They're gonna call 'em heroes. They're gonna call 'em Patriots. We can expect that, but I hope that the Democrats on that committee do not hold back. I hope they hold these people accountable. I hope they put every one of these deaths squarely at their feet, because that is what needs to happen.
